Madness is Expanding by bezzalair Madness is Expanding by bezzalair
This picture would have taken a lot longer if I had started from the beginning. I replaced the center character with my BunnyMan character, putting him in the center of madness, which I felt was fitting. I was unhappy with the previous character in this image because he looked too busy looking, I couldn't make him out very well and it bothered me for 4 years. I finally got around to doing something about it and am happier with the results.

Based off of Mathias Grünwald - part of the Issenheim Retable: www.hegel-system.de/de/gif/Gru… First painted in an art class in '09 as a color study of some sort assigned by my teacher.
You can see how the picture was previously here: bezzalair.deviantart.com/art/A…

Artwork is (C) to me, Caylee
(acrylic paint on 29"x30" in. Canvas)

Wow! The detail from this (taken from the original) was right down your alley! This looks great Caylee! I feel like I can understand what the Bunny Man deals with on a daily basis.

This editing give more darker aura than the previous one and I really like you change the knight into BunnyMan, it give this surreal horror fitting to the title

I am familiar with the paintings that you make your take on.  However, I have to admit I like your rendition better.  I will admit that I miss the angelic knight protecting the little girl and the colorful palette, mostly because it gave a nice, more sympathetic twist compared to the original, but I do admit that the Bunny Man and the darker colors fit better.  I'm pretty amazed at how close your background creatures are in comparison to the original.  The fact that you use acrylic paint alone to make this, astounds me, because I absolutely do not care for its quick drying properties.  I'm more of an oil painter dabbler, myself.  Thus, it shows skill in working with a medium where there is little room for error.

The restricting ropes, the Bunny Man's obvious struggle, and the extended hand possibly reaching for help just makes me sympathize for him.  It's sad to think how people can be both figuratively and literally confined to their own mind/madness.  This deviation doesn't help, but I think it's fitting to describe the Bunny Man's character and what madness you imply he struggles with.

I too, like how there was more hope in the last image with the angel defending the girl, but even then, a lady came up to me and said she was praying for me for painting that. Then again it sort of was an art assignment, but whatever. I wonder what she'd do now that I've changed it.

Anyway, I'm glad to hear that you think it's more fitting, though depressing. haha. xD;; At least I'm more satisfied with it now, so yay!

I belive the yellow "light" is from the camera, but somehow it made the paint looks to be very old. Not only as a paint but also as if it could have been from an old book.

With the change to your BunnyMan, it also changed the atmosphere some how.

Actually, the light difference is because I took the picture of this indoors, unlike last time.
I like the lighting of my last image but I remember doing a lot of photoshop work because no matter what angle I took the photo, there was always a glare from light on the painting. =\

that is ridiculously impressive. The fact you edited out one character with another. He looks like he belonged in his painting and wasn't a edit to the original. I'm just lost for words of how much I'm jelly XD and loving this.
Also enjoy your take on all the monsters from the painting this work is based off of.
